I actually had the idea for this a few months ago, but I figure I'll write it down to anticipate somebody out there.

The problem is that television remote controls have too many buttons and are unintuitive. Game systems such as the Nintendo Wii® solve this by using a remote control sensor capable of “pointing” at specific areas of the screen. However, to achieve this, the Wii® requires an external sensor bar containing two infrared LEDs. This is cumbersome and unattractive.

The solution is to integrate the sensor bar into the television. The invention comprises of a television and two infrared LEDS which are located on a horizontal line above or below the television screen. The invention would work immediately with the Nintendo Wii® motion controller. The invention would also work with a custom motion remote control specifically for the television.

Why hasn’t someone made this yet?
